About the Foundation

The Divine Authority Foundation (DAF) was created in 2010. The foundation became a 501(c)3 in 2012.

Divine Authority Foundation provides resources, events, programs, and outlets for single mothers and children raised by single mothers.

 

 

Mission Statement

To serve as a resource for low-income single mothers in order to assist them in providing for their children. To educate and raise awareness about the issues experienced by single-family homes. To foster healthy relationships between mothers, their children, and their communities.

 

Executive Director, Nicole Selena Carter 

Facebook headshotNicole Selena Carter first became involved with The Divine Authority Foundation as a Board Advisor. In her advisor role she oversaw fitness and youth programming. In July 2014, Nicole became Executive Director of the foundation with a mission to increase the organizations positive impact on local single-mothers in need and youth development.

In addition to overseeing the foundation and its annual programs, Carter currently serves as as Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Creative Flame Media. In this role, Nicole works with businesses as a marketing strategist and consultant. Carter has previous experience in economic development, project management and film. .

Nicole graduated from The University of Georgia with a Bachelors degree in International Business and finance.  She completed her Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship from Georgia State University.

Nicole resides in Atlanta, Ga with her husband Gerald Carter. She loves traveling, exposing her taste buds to new culinary adventures, reading and writing. 

Founder & Chairman, Gerald Carter, Jr. 

Gerald Carter HeadshotGerald R. Carter, Jr. established The Divine Authority Foundation in 2010. Raised by a single mother, Carter envisioned an organization that would assist single mothers with the resources needed to help raise their children. Gerald also believed in creating an organization that would focus on the sons of single mothers, providing young boys with mentors, role models, resources and knowledge for success.

In addition to serving as Chairman for the Divine Authority Foundation, Carter currently serves as a cyber security engineer for Georgia Transmission. In this role, Gerald helps to prevent cyber attacks on the company’s utility systems. Gerald also produces music for songwriters and the film industry as a music producer. Carter has previously worked in various industries including television and bookkeeping/tax.

Carter graduated from Tuskegee University with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Georgia.

Gerald resides in Atlanta, Ga. During his free time Carter enjoys trying out new cuisines and participating in outdoor activities.
