About the Foundation

The Divine Authority Foundation (DAF) was created in 2010. The foundation became a 501(c)3 in 2012.

Divine Authority Foundation provides resources, events, programs, and outlets for single mothers and children raised by single mothers.



Mission Statement

To serve as a resource for low-income single mothers in order to assist them in providing for their children. To educate and raise awareness about the issues experienced by single-family homes. To foster healthy relationships between mothers, their children, and their communities.


Executive Director, Nicole Selena Carter

Nicole Selena CarterNicole Carter joined the Divine Authority Foundation Advisory Committee in 2012 and became Executive Director July 2014. Nicole brings program management, economic development and marketing skills to the role. She is passionate about providing assistance and education to single mothers and their children. 

In addition to overseeing the foundation and its annual programs, Carter currently serves as the Founder of Creative Flame Media. Creative Flame Media is a marketing firm that provides its clients with digital marketing services ranging from web design and content management to video production and workshops. Carter has previously worked in various industries including film and economic development.

Carter graduated from The University of Georgia with a Bachelors degree in International Business & Finance. She earned her Masters of Business Administration with a focus on Entrepreneurship from Georgia State University. 

Married to her amazing husband and the Divine Authority Foundation's Founder, Gerald Carter, Nicole resides in Atlanta, Ga. During her free time Carter enjoys reading, writing, and traveling.

Founder & Chairman, Gerald Carter, Jr. 

Gerald Carter HeadshotGerald R. Carter, Jr. established The Divine Authority Foundation in 2010. Raised by a single mother, Carter envisioned an organization that would assist single mothers with the resources needed to help raise their children. Gerald also believed in creating an organization that would focus on the sons of single mothers, providing young boys with mentors, role models, resources and knowledge for success.

In addition to providing assistance and support with DAF's programming and operations, Carter currently serves as a cyber security &  fiber engineer for Georgia Transmission. In this role, Gerald helps to prevent cyber attacks on the company’s utility systems and implement statewide fiber strategies. Gerald also produces music for songwriters and the film industry as a music producer. Carter has previously worked in various industries including television and bookkeeping/tax.

Carter graduated from Tuskegee University with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Georgia.

Gerald resides in Atlanta, Ga with his wife Nicole Carter. During his free time Carter enjoys trying out new cuisines and participating in outdoor activities.
